Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and if you’re a guy, you’ll probably wait until the last possible second to make plans for your better half. It always happens the same way: you’re driving home from a busy day at work on February 14th, and suddenly it dawns on you; you’ve completely forgot.

Normally this would be a huge dilemma, but with Toyota’s new Entune infotainment system launched at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, you’ll soon be able to buy flowers, make a dinner date and purchase movie tickets all without leaving the comfort of your new Toyota. The only caveat; it won’t be available in time for Valentine’s Day 2011, so let this article be a reminder to make plans now!

Available this summer starting with the all-new Prius v station wagon, Entune will integrate popular mobile applications like:

  • Microsoft Bing
  • MovieTickets.com
  • OpenTable.com
  • Pandora
  • iheartradio

Toyota’s infotainment System

These applications will make life easier and more convenient for all Toyota owners. Entune is compatible with a wide range of smartphones including the Android and iPhone, and all in-vehicle applications are wirelessly updated so they’re never obsolete.

Driven by voice recognition, Toyota worked directly with voice recognition partner Nuance to develop natural language comprehension so drivers can use their voice to search for businesses, buy movie tickets, make restaurant reservations and play their favorite music without their hands ever leaving the steering wheel.

How does it perform? If the awards Entune received at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show are any indication, you should have no problem making those last minute 2012 Valentine’s Day arrangements. Entune won both CNET’s “Best of CES” award in the Car Tech category and the Popular Mechanics Editor’s Choice Award.

Entune also includes location-based services like personalized traffic, fuel prices, stocks, weather and sports. And from a safety perspective, Entune will integrate with Toyota Safety Connect to provide:

  • Automatic Collision Notification
  • Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance
  • Emergency Assistance
  • Roadside Assistance

All of these features combined with Entune will deliver mobile application safety services unlike any other vehicle on the road today. It’s another example of Toyota’s never-ending commitment to vehicle safety.

The only problem with Entune is, once you get it in your new Toyota, you’ll have one less excuse to use when you forget Valentine’s Day again next year.
