For more than a decade, the Toyota Prius has been the best selling hybrid vehicle on the road, prompting many to wonder when Toyota will capitalize on the power of the Prius brand and introduce new models. Well wonder no longer.
On Monday January 10th, at the Detroit Auto Show, Toyota general manager Bob Carter announced an entire family of 11 new Prius vehicles to be released globally over the next 23 months, highlighted by the Prius V station wagon.

With a late summer 2011 release date, the V – signifying “versatility” due to its 34 cubic feet of cargo room – will feature the same eco-friendly Hybrid Synergy Drive platform delivering 42 city/38 highway mpg; by far the most fuel-efficient wagon/CUV in America.
Other highlights include:
• Backup camera as a standard feature
• Full resin moonroof with retractable shades
• Award-winning Entune™ infotainment system
• Seven airbags and STAR safety system
With 50 percent more interior cargo space than the traditional Prius and rear seats that slide and recline, the Prius V will be the perfect solution for families who want the exceptional eco-friendliness of the Prius combined with the cargo capacity of a station wagon.

Toyota also featured the Prius Plug-In and the Prius C concept, a more compact and fuel-efficient version of the traditional Prius. Although no fuel efficiency numbers were shared, according to Toyota, the C concept will be the basis for the next compact Prius family member due to be launched in 2012.
Acton Toyota of Littleton, a premier Toyota dealership in the Boston, Mass. area, made the Prius family announcement available to all its employees with an online live broadcast of the event in its conference room.
Selling over 400 Toyota hybrid vehicles a year, Acton Toyota has long embraced the Toyota Prius as well as Toyota’s overall efforts to increase and improve the brand’s hybrid vehicles and technology. In fact, last month Acton Toyota was one of only a few Massachusetts dealers selected by Toyota to host an early unveiling of the Toyota Prius Plug-In. The Prius Plug-In should reach dealers sometime in early 2012.
“We are particularly excited for the Prius C concept,” stated Craig Belowski, General Sales Manager at Acton Toyota of Littleton. Belowski continued, “The Prius C’s price point should allow many individuals who otherwise couldn’t afford a Toyota hybrid vehicle to own one.”
After the announcement, Assistant General Manager Glenn Hoffman commented, “At Acton Toyota, we’re eager to offer our customers a wider and more diverse range of Toyota Prius hybrid products that will help folks keep more money in their pockets by spending less time at the gas pumps.”
